In a rational society we would all be teachers.  Hopefully, teachers of music!  Sharing our own individual "sound track" with each other.   Music is what defines us as humans.  Music is what separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.  ( I know birds can sing, but can they play a "stick"?)

When I was five years old my mother insisted that I learn to play the Accordion.   "Even in the depression, people had a nickel for the organ player", she would chant.   I played the damn thing until I was about 12 at which time I concluded that Elvis was a more appropriate idol for a pre-pubescent boy than Lawrence Welk.  (Additionally, I kept getting my nipples caught in the bellows during the shirtless summer).

I migrated to Guitar and Keyboards, two instruments that I have yet to master.   None the  less, there is no greater stress relief than trying to pluck out your "sound track" during  hours of untutored solitude.

I have three or four guitars, but my favorites are the 1955 Martin D28 and the 1965 Gibson "Hummingbird".   I also have a Kurzwel keyboard.  Lately I have discovered the Stick and the wonders of Bob Culbertson, a truly great musician.  ( Kate got me a stick for Christmas and now I have yet another instrument I can't really play.)
